Republican U.S. Representative Kevin Hern said on Wednesday the House will vote on Thursday on a short-term stopgap measure to avert a government shutdown.

"Rather than have a government shutdown, we're going to vote tomorrow and see how the vote goes," Hern told reporters while exiting a meeting in House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office.
