South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has created distance from Bosasa on December 10 saying that he had not received any donations from the firm.

On the other hand, controversial facilities management company Bosasa has informed Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane that it does not have any confirmation that the country's President Cyril Ramaphosa had access to the business contract between Bosasa and his son Andile Ramaphosa.

In the last year, Bosasa changed its name to African Global Operations. The company reportedly secured multimillion-rand tenders with the government in recent years.

The DA leader Mmusi Maimane submitted a Promotion of Access to Information Act request to the company after Ramaphosa acknowledged the existence of a contract in Parliament but later backtracked on his answer.

Initially, Ramaphosa said that the payment to his son Andile was for consultancy work. Then he changed his statement by saying that R500,000 was used to fund his election campaign. However, in the previous month, he said, during a question and answer session in Parliament, that he had seen a business contract between Andile and Bosasa, as reported by EWN.

"I was not aware of the existence of the donation at the time that I answered the question in the National Assembly. Since I did not receive any donation from African Global Operations, no declaration was necessary," he insisted.
