Uttarakhand BJP president Mahendra Bhatt on Tuesday asked all party candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, MLAs, ex MLAs, party functionaries and workers to start their poll campaigns by honouring and taking the blessings of elderly voters in their areas as part of a campaign named ''Sarvoch/Hirak Matdata Samman Abhiyan''.
The number of voters above 80 years in Uttarakhand is approximately 1,54,259 out of which 1,411 (853 women and 558 men) are above 100 years, Bhatt said. They (elderly voters) have seen the India before and after independence. They have also seen the India before 2014 and the development work done by the Narendra Modi government after that, he added. ''So I request all our Lok Sabha candidates, MLAs, former MLAs, party office bearers and workers to start their poll campaign by honouring and taking the blessings of the elderly voters in their areas. They should also post what they say by way of blessing the BJP on social media,'' Bhatt said in a statement.
