Kishida and Biden reiterate desire for North Korea engagement

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida reiterated on Wednesday his desire for a summit meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to resolve various issues, while U.S. President Joe Biden said the United States would welcome the opportunity to initiate dialogue with Pyongyang.

The two leaders made the comments at a White House news conference after summit talks.

Nuclear-armed North Korea said last month it has no interest in dialogue with Japan and has also rejected U.S. efforts at engagement.
