Levelling allegations against former Congress leader Sudhir Sharma, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday said that Sharma is not only the "leader of the defected MLAs but also a land mafia". Addressing a public meeting, Chief Minister Sukhu said, "He is a land mafia. Sudhir's black money has been used in the purchase of 82 properties in Dharamshala and surrounding areas. The former MLA has purchased these properties in the name of his driver. These lands have been purchased in three years. Where did the driver get ten crore rupees from? He also has benami properties for sale in Dubai, Palampur, Shimla, Manali and Chandigarh.
Chief Minister Sukhu said that investigation is ongoing regarding this and former MLA's dark deeds will soon be revealed to everyone. "Ten years ago, after coming to Dharamshala, Sudhir built a house worth Rs 10 crore and bought properties worth Rs 10 crore in the name of the driver". He further alleged that due to hunger for money, Sharma sold himself in the political market of the BJP.
"Former MLA was focused only on creating wealth and never raised the problems of the people," he said. He further appealed to the public to vote in favour of Congress leader Devinder Jaggi who will face BJP's Sudhir Sharma in the Dharamshala Assembly bypoll.
Bharatiya Janata Party has six disqualified Congress rebel MLAs in the Himachal Assembly by-polls. All six now disqualified Congress MLAs--Rajinder Singh Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Chaitanya Sharma, Ravi Thakur, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, and Davinder Bhutto-- had cross-voted in in the Rajya Sabha election in favour of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan against Congress' senior leader Abhishek Mani Singhvi.
Apart from elections in four Lok Sabha constituencies, Himachal Pradesh will witness bypolls in six assembly constituencies, which were previously occupied by the rebel MLAs. All four Lok Sabha seats and six legislative assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh will vote in the by-elections on June 1, in the final phase. (ANI)
