In a compelling address at Asia's premier security conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged defense officials to participate in an upcoming peace summit aimed at ending the ongoing conflict with Russia. Emphasizing the necessity of global deliberations, Zelenskyy expressed disappointment at the absence of confirmations from several world leaders.
He underscored the urgency of addressing nuclear and food security, along with the return of abducted Ukrainian children as foundational issues for peace. Meanwhile, Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun, absent during Zelenskyy's appeal, reiterated China's advocacy for peace talks without providing arms to either side.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin echoed support for Ukraine, lauding its resilience and fortitude. The call for a rules-based global order resonated throughout the conference, amplifying the discourse on achieving sustainable and just peace.
