Goa is poised for a decisive count on June 4, as vote counting for two Lok Sabha seats gets underway. The political battlefield sees the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress locked in a direct contest, each holding one seat.
Seven rounds of counting will determine the outcomes before noon, according to senior officials. The Northern constituency's votes will be counted at Government Polytechnic College in Panaji, while the Southern votes will be tallied at Damodar College in Margao.
In North Goa, BJP's sitting MP Shripad Naik faces Congress candidate Ramakant Khalap and RGP's Manoj Parab. For South Goa, the Congress has fielded Viriato Fernandes against BJP debutant Pallavi Dempo. Eight candidates are contesting from each seat. Held on May 7, voter turnout reached 76.34% in North Goa and 73% in South Goa.
