Haryana's crucial votes for 10 Lok Sabha seats and the Karnal Assembly bypoll will be tallied on Tuesday at 91 designated centres under tight security. Over 10,000 police personnel have been mobilized to ensure seamless operations, Shatrujeet Kapur, the Director General of Police, confirmed. This comprehensive arrangement includes a three-tier security system around the counting centres.
The high-stakes election features 223 candidates, including prominent figures such as former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union ministers Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar, and Congress leaders Kumari Selja, Deepender Singh Hooda, and others. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has contended for the Karnal assembly seat in the bypoll.
Counting of votes will commence at 8 AM, kicking off with postal ballots before moving on to the EVM counts. Randomly selected VVPAT slips will be matched in the presence of counting agents. This election cycle saw a voter turnout of 64.80%, lower than the previous 70% turnout in 2019. Comprehensive security measures, including 70 police personnel at each centre and extensive CCTV surveillance, have been ensured.
