Chirag Paswan, the president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has clinched a significant victory in the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar. The Election Commission announced that Paswan defeated his nearest rival from the RJD, Shiv Chandra Ram, by a remarkable margin of over 1.70 lakh votes.
Paswan secured a total of 6.14 lakh votes, while Ram managed to obtain 4.44 lakh votes. This triumph marks a strategic move by Paswan, an NDA ally, who gave up his Jamui seat—where he had been enjoying a second consecutive term—to contest from Hajipur, a constituency his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, represented eight times.
In the 2019 elections, the Hajipur seat was won by Pashupati Kumar Paras, the late leader’s younger brother. Paras, who had split the LJP in 2021, recently resigned from the Union cabinet following the BJP's decision to support Chirag Paswan. This election win consolidates Paswan's position and signifies a compelling chapter in Bihar's political landscape.
