Dharmendra Yadav Triumphs in Azamgarh

Samajwadi Party's Dharmendra Yadav defeated BJP's Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua in Azamgarh by 1,61,035 votes. Yadav polled 5,08,239 votes compared to Nirahua's 3,47,204. BSP's Mohammad Sabeeha Ansari received 1,79,839 votes. The seat has switched hands multiple times over recent elections.

In a decisive victory, Samajwadi Party candidate Dharmendra Yadav emerged victorious over his BJP rival Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua in Uttar Pradesh's pivotal Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat. Yadav secured a substantial margin of 1,61,035 votes, totalling 5,08,239 votes, while Nirahua garnered 3,47,204 votes. BSP's candidate Mohammad Sabeeha Ansari received 1,79,839 votes.

Notably, in the 2019 general elections, Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party chief, previously defeated Nirahua by a margin of 2,59,874 votes. After Akhilesh Yadav's shift to the Karhal assembly seat in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh polls, he vacated the MP position, prompting the bypolls where Dharmendra Yadav faced initial defeat by a narrow margin of 8,769 votes to Nirahua.

The Azamgarh seat has a dynamic history, having been claimed by BJP's Ramakant Yadav in 2009 and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav in 2014, reflecting the region's shifting political landscape.
