The Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced that the traditional change of guard ceremony scheduled for June 8, 15, and 22 will be canceled. The suspension is due to the intricate preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and his council of ministers.

In an official statement, it was revealed that President Droupadi Murmu would address both Houses of Parliament during this period. The change of guard ceremony is a military tradition that takes place weekly, allowing a new group of the President's Bodyguards to assume their duties.

President Murmu appointed Modi as the Prime Minister-designate upon receiving a letter from BJP chief J P Nadda and letters of support from NDA leaders. The swearing-in ceremony is set for 7:15 pm on Sunday at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the President will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Modi and the other members of the Union council of ministers.
