Narendra Modi is poised to take the oath as Prime Minister of India for a historic third consecutive term this Sunday evening. President Droupadi Murmu has formally invited Modi to form the government following a decisive mandate from the parliamentary elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under the leadership of Modi, secured 240 seats, supplemented by allied support from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to achieve a robust majority of 293 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha. This majority led the President to appoint Modi as the prime minister-designate.

The formal ceremony will take place at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7:15 pm, where President Murmu will administer the oath of office. Major allies, including TDP, JD(U), Shiv Sena, and LJP(R), are expected to have representation in the new government. Modi emphasizes this new term as a pivotal step towards India's centenary celebration of independence in 2047.
