Water Wars: Delhi's Capital Crisis

Delhi Minister Atishi argues that Haryana's reduction of water inflow exacerbates the city's water crisis, despite Himachal Pradesh's willingness to release water. BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accuses Atishi of misleading the public, emphasizing infrastructure issues and water theft. The Supreme Court is involved in resolving the matter.

Delhi is in the throes of a severe water crisis. On Friday, Delhi Minister Atishi asserted that even if Himachal Pradesh releases water, Haryana's reduction in Delhi's share will keep the situation dire. She inspected the Wazirabad barrage, accusing Haryana of conspiracy.

Contrarily, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused Atishi of misleading the populace. He cited silt-laden storage ponds and water theft as the real culprits behind Delhi's water woes.

The Supreme Court, actively involved in the crisis, has ordered Himachal Pradesh to release 137 cusecs of surplus water, urging Haryana to facilitate its flow. The court aims to resolve the issue amid ongoing political tensions.
