JMM Leaders Convene Exclusive Meeting with Hemant Soren in Jail Amidst Election Results and Assembly Poll Strategy

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and senior JMM leaders, including Kalpana Soren, convened at Birsa Munda Central Jail to discuss Lok Sabha election results and assembly poll strategies with former CM Hemant Soren. Hemant Soren was recently arrested in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land fraud.

In a significant political move, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and senior JMM leaders gathered at Birsa Munda Central Jail to confer with former CM Hemant Soren. Party sources confirmed that the leaders, including Hemant's wife Kalpana Soren, delved into the Lok Sabha election outcomes and the party's roadmap for the upcoming Assembly polls.

This meetup marks the first post-election congregation of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leaders with Hemant Soren, according to a JMM insider. The Lok Sabha elections witnessed the BJP clinching eight seats and its ally AJSU Party securing one, while JMM claimed three constituencies and Congress one. Notably, Kalpana Soren triumphed in the Gandey assembly bypoll by a substantial margin of 27,149 votes.

Hemant Soren's presence in the jail stems from his January 31 arrest by the ED in a money laundering case tied to alleged land fraud. Criticizing the meeting, Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo accused the current administration of operating out of a 'jail secretariat.' Alongside Champai and Kalpana, MPs Joba Majhi and Vijay Hansdak were also present.
