SP Singh Baghel's political journey is a testament to his resilience and adaptability, having been associated with three major political parties in Uttar Pradesh — BJP, SP, and BSP. Initially a sub-inspector in Mulayam Singh Yadav's security team, he transitioned into politics under Yadav's mentorship.

Baghel represented the Samajwadi Party in Parliament three times before shifting to the Bahujan Samaj Party and later joining the BJP. He won the 2017 UP assembly elections from Tundla and served as a cabinet minister under Yogi Adityanath. In the 2019 general elections, he secured a win for the BJP from Agra and was sworn in as a Minister of State.
