Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has written to Narendra Modi congratulating him on his reappointment as prime minister, underlining that he has shepherded India’s remarkable transformation and voiced his desire to further enhance strategic bilateral ties.
Modi was sworn in as prime minister on Sunday for a record-equalling third term, heading the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
In his congratulatory letter, Wong noted Modi’s decade-long leadership in uplifting the lives of millions of people and expressed confidence that India will continue to grow and prosper under Modi’s leadership.
Wong highlighted the warm and multifaceted relationship between Singapore and India, emphasizing cooperation in areas like digitalisation, skilling, and healthcare as the countries head towards the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.
Wong wished Modi good health and success, looking forward to further interactions to deepen ties.
Wong, 51, was recently sworn in as Singapore's prime minister, marking the city-state's first leadership change in 20 years, succeeding Lee Hsien Loong, who maintained a close relationship with Prime Minister Modi.
