Sanjeet Kharel, a two-time SKM legislator, has been appointed the Pro-tem Speaker for the 11th Sikkim Legislative Assembly, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old MLA's nomination was finalized during the first cabinet meeting of the re-elected Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government, chaired by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, on Monday evening. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya is set to administer the oath of office later today, officials added.

The inaugural session of the 11th Sikkim Legislative Assembly, scheduled for Wednesday, will see the Pro-tem Speaker officiating the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected members. Additionally, the election for the position of Speaker will take place during the session.
