Yechury Highlights BJP's Setback and Future Parliamentary Dynamics

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has emphasized the significant setback faced by the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections, noting the party's reduced numbers in Parliament. Yechury argued that the diminished majority would lead to a more democratic process, preventing any future attempts to bulldoze parliamentary proceedings.

In an exclusive interview with PTI, Yechury pointed out that many opposition leaders, barring Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, did not receive invitations to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He remarked that Modi's third time taking the oath was as the leader of the NDA, not solely the BJP.

Yechury further highlighted that the BJP's campaign goal of securing over 400 seats fell drastically short, with the party ending up with only 240 seats. He criticized the Modi government's lack of moral authority, citing significant public resistance movements, and hinted at potential future claims for government by the INDIA bloc.
