Macron's Nuclear Vision: Eight New Reactors for France's Energy Transition

French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to construct eight new nuclear reactors. This decision, aimed at aiding France's energy transition, was revealed during a speech in which he also addressed the surprise call for a snap parliamentary election following his party's loss in the European Parliament election.

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed on Wednesday a project to build eight new nuclear reactors in France which he said were "essential" to the country's energy transition.

Macron made the comment during a speech addressing his surprise decision to call a snap parliamentary election after the far-right pummeled his party in Sunday's European Parliament election.

"The future government programme will have to make strong decisions such as (on) eight new nuclear reactors essential to this (energy) transition," he said.
