Biden and Zelenskyy Solidify US-Ukraine Security Pact Amid G7 Conference

President Joe Biden and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are set to sign a landmark security agreement between the United States and Ukraine during the Group of Seven summit in Italy. The initiative aims to reinforce America's commitment to Kyiv without involving US troops directly in the conflict, the White House has confirmed.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan clarified that while the agreement underscores US support, it keeps Washington from being drawn into a direct clash with nuclear-armed Russia. The pact emerges as Biden makes a determined push to convert frozen Russian assets into substantial financial aid for Ukraine.

Besides security agreements, Biden, along with G7 leaders from Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, will tackle issues like artificial intelligence, migration, and the resurgence of Russian military activity. Far-right victories in recent EU elections have added urgency to this year's summit, which includes discussions on global economic challenges posed by China.
