With Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir imminent, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh has raised significant concerns. Ramesh has questioned the government's commitment to restoring full statehood and holding assembly elections in the Union Territory.
Ramesh emphasized that since 2018, residents of J&K have been denied a political voice and the region has become a rigidly controlled territory under the current administration. He questioned the Prime Minister's reluctance to address the ongoing issues.
Highlighting the security concerns in the region, Ramesh pointed to increased infiltration and a rise in terrorism, questioning the government's claim of curbed violence. He also accused the BJP of neglecting the Kashmiri Pandit community and failing to attract meaningful investments in J&K.
