In a significant political development, TDP's CA Ayyannapatrudu has been unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The announcement was made on Saturday during a session led by Pro-tem Speaker and TDP's Rajahmundry Rural MLA G Butchaiah Chowdary.

The nominations for Ayyannapatrudu's candidacy were proposed by notable figures including Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, and BJP's Staya Kumar Yadava. As no other candidates submitted nominations, Pro-tem Speaker Chowdary formally declared Ayyannapatrudu's election.

After the formalities, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, along with other dignitaries, escorted Ayyannapatrudu to the Speaker's chair. Naidu commended Ayyannapatrudu for his experience and leadership, highlighting his recognition as a prominent BC leader. This session marked the beginning of the 16th Legislative Assembly, with all 175 MLAs having taken their oaths of office.
