In a strategic announcement, Congress leader Deepak Babaria indicated that the party might not project a chief ministerial candidate for the Haryana Assembly polls scheduled for later this year. Speaking to the press, Babaria exuded confidence, asserting that the Congress is poised to secure a significant mandate and form the government.

Unlike the BJP, which already announced it will contest the Haryana polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Babaria suggested that the Congress would not deviate from its long-standing tradition of allowing elected legislators to choose their leader post-election. 'The Congress party's 70-year-old tradition is that whoever is elected by the legislature party...', he noted.

Addressing concerns about infighting within the party, Babaria dismissed BJP's critiques, underscoring that internal disagreements are part and parcel of a democratic setup. He highlighted that the upcoming manifesto will focus on issues pertinent to the common man, reaching out to various societal sections for feedback and suggestions. 'We once again want to build a Haryana that was once known for prosperity and overall development,' Babaria emphasized.
