CM Sukhu Criticizes Opposition, Highlights Development Schemes in Dehra

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu criticized Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and BJP leaders for allegedly lying. At a Dehra Assembly meet, he highlighted the failure of Thakur's predictions about BJP forming the government. Sukhu also emphasized local development and welfare schemes initiated by his government.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and other BJP leaders, accusing them of incessant lying. Sukhu affirmed that Thakur’s predictions about BJP's return to power were baseless and misleading.

During a corner meeting in the Dehra Assembly constituency, Sukhu pointed out that Thakur's forecast of a BJP government forming by June 4 had turned out to be false. He accused Thakur of making unrealistic promises to the public, thereby only embarrassing himself.

In a more on personal note, Sukhu criticized former Independent MLA from Dehra, Hoshyar Singh, alleging that Singh prioritized his business interests over public service. Sukhu urged Singh to explain his resignation and subsequent re-entry into politics by contesting the by-election for an MLA position.

The by-election, Sukhu contended, was a responsibility unfairly imposed on the people by BJP leaders and Hoshyar Singh. He announced that Congress has chosen Kamlesh Thakur, Hoshyar Singh's wife, as their candidate for the Dehra constituency.

Highlighting his administration's development initiatives, Sukhu mentioned the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana, under which around 1,000 women have received pension installments of Rs 1,500 per month. He assured that more eligible women would soon benefit upon verification completion.

Sukhu also reiterated that the state government has launched various schemes aiming to boost the economic growth of villages during its last one-and-a-half-year tenure.
