The notice comes after Rahman made controversial statements endorsing the public flogging of a couple, an incident that shook the state and was caught on camera last week in Uttar Dinajpur district.

The video, which quickly went viral, shows a man identified as Tajmul, alias 'JCB'—a purported TMC leader and close associate of Rahman—flogging the couple with a stick. TMC has demanded an explanation from Rahman, emphasizing that the party does not support the incident or his remarks.

Rahman, in defense of the flogging, stated that the couple was engaged in an illicit relationship, calling their actions socially polluting. His comments have not only garnered widespread condemnation but have also put TMC under intense scrutiny.
