Thirteen assembly constituencies across seven Indian states saw moderate to high voter turnouts on Wednesday during bypolls marked by sporadic violence in Uttarakhand, Bihar, and West Bengal.
Polling took place from 7 am to 6 pm, with Tamil Nadu's Vikravandi assembly seat recording the highest turnout among the 13 constituencies and Uttarakhand's Badrinath seat witnessing the lowest.
This electoral exercise, the first since the Lok Sabha elections, will decide the fate of many seasoned politicians and newcomers, including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur. Barring some incidents of violence in Bihar, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal, polling proceeded peacefully.
