Congress leader Udit Raj on Thursday criticized the Delhi Congress leadership, labeling many as "chugalakhor" (snitchers) and emphasized the urgent need for significant changes within the party’s leadership in the capital. Raj stressed that the party's weak position in Delhi is largely due to internal issues and ineffectiveness amongst its leaders. He stated, "What will happen in the future we can't predict. Our priority is to save Democracy and the Constitution. In politics, nothing is permanent. All the decisions are being taken by the party's high command."
Raj further demanded that leaders who have consistently lost elections in Delhi should not be granted tickets in upcoming assembly elections. He expressed concern over the continuous defeats in a city home to prominent Congress figures like Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi. He remarked, "The continuous defeat of Congress in Delhi is alarming. I feel bad that the party is weak in Delhi because of our own people. There is a need for a big change in leadership in Delhi Congress."
He also advocated for a greater representation of Purvanchal candidates in the 2025 elections. Meanwhile, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt attributed the party’s loss in the Lok Sabha elections to the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) role in the excise policy scam, involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendar Kumar Jain, and Manish Sisodia. On June 6, AAP announced it would contest the 2025 Delhi assembly elections independently, following their previous alliance with Congress during the Lok Sabha polls. In the 2020 assembly elections, Congress failed to secure any seats, while AAP won 62 out of 70 seats and BJP secured eight.
