Election Commission Reviews Jharkhand Poll Preparedness

Ahead of the Jharkhand assembly polls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) reviewed voter list preparation and law and order issues with district officers from all 24 districts. The 81-member House's tenure expires on January 5, 2025.

A five-member ECI team, led by senior deputy election commissioners Nitesh Vyas and Dharmendra Sharma, held a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and his team in Ramgarh district. Jharkhand CEO K Ravi Kumar stated that the team evaluated issues including the special summary revision of electoral rolls and the general law and order situation. They also addressed low voter turnout in certain polling booths during the Lok Sabha polls and directed officers to develop a plan to increase turnout in the upcoming assembly elections.

The second special revision of the electoral roll, which began on June 25, will conclude on July 24. The draft voter list will be published on July 25, and voters can submit claims and objections by August 9. The final voter list will be released on August 20.
