West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar during her first visit to Mumbai since the Lok Sabha poll results were announced over a month ago.
Banerjee, leading the Trinamool Congress, visited Pawar at his residence 'Silver Oak' in South Mumbai. Earlier in the day, she also met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence 'Matoshree' in Bandra.
The Trinamool Congress, NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) are all part of the opposition INDIA bloc. Banerjee's visit follows the INDIA bloc's strong showing in the June 4 Lok Sabha elections. In Maharashtra, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) claimed 30 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats, surprising the ruling Mahayuti coalition, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP.
