Congress Investigates Poor Telangana Poll Performance

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) panel tasked with investigating the Congress party's lackluster Lok Sabha election performance in Telangana wrapped up its visit on Friday. The three-member team, headed by seasoned leader P J Kurien, held discussions with candidates and leaders over two days, gathering feedback on the challenges encountered during the polls.

On Thursday, the committee began by engaging with the contesting candidates, and on Friday, it conversed with MLAs and constituency incharges. Despite planning for a three-day visit, the panel compressed its interactions into just two days. Sources have indicated that the final report will be presented to the AICC later this month.

During the interactions, Congress Lok Sabha member Kadiam Kavya from Warangal relayed her insights on the party's strengths and areas needing improvement. Similarly, Secunderabad MLA Danam Nagender shared his experience regarding the shortcomings witnessed during the elections. The committee, which had other members Rakibul Hussain and Pargat Singh, reached Hyderabad on Wednesday night.

The Congress leadership, under President Mallikarjun Kharge, constituted this and other committees in June to scrutinize the party's diminishing returns in the polls across states including Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh, where it holds power, as well as Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand, where it failed to secure seats.
