Historic Win: Congress Secures Dehra Assembly Seat

The Congress secured victory in the Dehra Assembly seat with Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, defeating BJP candidate Hoshiyar Singh by 9,399 votes. Thakur garnered 32,737 votes compared to Singh's 23,338. The constituency saw a 65.42% voter turnout from its 86,520 electorate.

The Congress secured a historic win in the Dehra Assembly seat on Saturday. Kamlesh Thakur, the wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, emerged victorious against BJP's Hoshiyar Singh with a margin of 9,399 votes.

Thakur received 32,737 votes while Singh managed 23,338. The bypoll witnessed a voter turnout of 65.42% from the 86,520 registered voters in the constituency, with three Independent candidates failing to make a significant impact.

Established after delimitation in 2012, the Dehra constituency has seen leadership from senior BJP leader Ravi Inder Singh in its inaugural election, followed by Hoshiyar Singh's wins in 2017 and 2022 as an Independent.
