DMK Triumphs Again in Vikravandi Bypoll

The ruling DMK secured a decisive victory in the Vikravandi Assembly byelection with Anniyur Siva winning by a margin of 67,757 votes. PMK's C Anbumani finished second, and Nam Tamilar Katchi's K Abinaya came in third. The victory reinforces DMK's winning streak in the state since 2019.

The ruling DMK emerged victorious in the Vikravandi Assembly constituency bypoll by a margin of 67,757 votes over NDA constituent Pattali Makkal Katchi, which came in second with 56,296 votes.

Daring the vote-counting exercise on Saturday, DMK's Anniyur Siva alias A Sivashanmugam maintained a strong lead over his rivals. Ultimately, the Election Commission declared him the winner with 1,24,053 votes, while Nam Tamilar Katchi's K Abinaya secured 10,602 votes, standing in third place. PMK's C Anbumani garnered 56,296 votes.

This victory continues DMK's winning streak in Tamil Nadu since the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. DMK supporters celebrated across the state, led by party president and Chief Minister M K Stalin. The Dravidian party leader highlighted INDIA bloc's national success and advised the BJP to respect regional sentiments for effective governance.

The victory was seen as a mark of appreciation for DMK's welfare initiatives. Despite the AIADMK's decision not to contest, PMK founder S Ramadoss claimed the 'real victory' for his party, accusing DMK of using money power.

The bypoll occurred following the death of DMK legislator N Pugazhenthi in April. It comes as a relief for DMK especially after recent tragic events that might have influenced electoral outcomes.
