Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of misuse of power, targeting him for allegedly playing the caste card amidst accusations surrounding the fraudulent allotment of sites to land losers by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The controversy involves plots allotted to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi.
Kumaraswamy highlighted that the MUDA scam directly implicated the Chief Minister's family. He urged respected lawyers in the state to present the case before the Governor seeking prosecution sanctions, eventually taking it to court. He criticized the state administration under the Congress government for multiple scandals that, according to him, have tainted Karnataka's reputation nationally, stating, 'There is a negative feeling about this administration outside Karnataka.'
Responding to the allegations, Siddaramaiah refuted claims of wrongdoing, suggesting a conspiracy due to his position in the backward class community. He clarified that compensatory sites were allotted to his wife legally by MUDA. Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy questioned the legitimacy of these allocations, emphasizing discrepancies and violations of rules in the process.
