The Trinamool Congress (TMC) continued its winning streak by securing all four seats in the West Bengal Assembly bypolls, including three previously held by its rival, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This success follows TMC's recent victory in the Lok Sabha polls, where it won 29 out of 42 seats in West Bengal.

Madhuparna Thakur, daughter of TMC Rajya Sabha MP Mamata Bala Thakur, became the youngest MLA in the West Bengal Assembly, winning by a margin of 33,455 votes against BJP's Binay Kumar Biswas. Thakur vowed to address issues related to bridges and roads in her constituency, emphasizing her commitment to the local people.

TMC's Supti Pandey, Mukti Mani Adhikari, and Krishna Kalyani also secured victories, defeating BJP candidates by significant margins. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her gratitude to the people, crediting the victory to public dissatisfaction with the BJP and a strong mandate for TMC.

Reflecting on the overall bypoll results, Banerjee noted that the BJP had only managed to win two seats in states where they hold power, indicating a national trend against the BJP. She highlighted the performance of the INDIA alliance, which reportedly received 51% of votes nationwide.

TMC's Kunal Ghosh and Mahua Moitra also weighed in, predicting that the Narendra Modi government would not remain in power for long and highlighting the decreasing influence of the BJP and its allies.

BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar alleged electoral fraud and promised to scrutinize the results at the booth level, while BJP leader Shankar Ghosh pointed to alleged violence by the ruling party as a factor affecting the polling outcome.

The bypolls saw a voter turnout of 62.71% and were necessitated after several legislators vacated their assembly seats to contest in the Lok Sabha elections.
