VD Satheesan, the Leader of Opposition in Kerala, has launched a scathing critique against the state government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He highlighted the struggles endured by the state's fishermen, emphasizing that the government's lack of effective measures is exacerbating their plight.

Satheesan, speaking to ANI on Sunday, stressed the urgent need for sea walls to mitigate the effects of coastal erosion, which has been devastating for the fishing communities. He expressed concern over the inadequate coverage of sea walls, noting that while some areas have been addressed, many remain vulnerable.

Furthermore, Satheesan called for both immediate and long-term interventions. He urged the government to provide rental assistance or alternative housing as a short-term solution, and to implement robust sea wall infrastructure over the long term. Earlier this month, Satheesan similarly criticized the government for its lack of action on soil erosion, which continues to threaten the livelihoods of the fishing community, especially amid the increasing turbulence of the Arabian Sea.
