UK's Foreign Secretary Pushes for Gaza Ceasefire and Peace Talks

David Lammy, Britain's newly appointed foreign secretary, will advocate for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages during his Sunday visit to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, according to the foreign office.

During his visit, Lammy will engage in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, emphasizing the need for a credible and irreversible path towards a two-state solution. 'The death and destruction in Gaza is intolerable. This war must end now, with an immediate ceasefire, complied with by both sides,' Lammy stated.

Lammy will also address the issue of 680 tonnes of British aid currently awaiting entry into Gaza. His Labour Party, which recently secured a significant election victory despite challenges in areas with large Muslim populations, has committed to recognizing a Palestinian state as part of a renewed peace process aimed at achieving a two-state solution.
