Tripura Bandh: A Day of Divergent Perspectives
A 12-hour bandh in Tripura, called by the Left Front to protest the murder of CPI(M) candidate Badal Shill, occurred without incident. While police reported normalcy, the CPI(M) claimed public support. Contrarily, the BJP asserted that normal life continued, and accused the CPI(M) of politicizing the murder ahead of panchayat elections.

The 12-hour Tripura bandh, orchestrated by the Left Front in response to the murder of CPI(M) Zilla Parishad candidate Badal Shill, passed without incident, according to police reports on Sunday.
No violence or disruptions were recorded during the bandh, with Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Ananta Das confirming that daily life remained unaffected. Businesses operated normally, and transportation services proceeded without hindrance.
The CPI(M), however, maintained that the public backed the bandh by staying off the streets and avoiding markets. Contrarily, BJP state general secretary Amit Rakshit refuted these claims, asserting that the people rejected the strike and accused the CPI(M) of exploiting the murder for political gain ahead of panchayat elections.
