Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently jailed, denied any involvement in the violent protests on May 9, 2022, during a court appearance on Monday. Supporters allegedly attacked state buildings and military monuments after Khan's arrest in a corruption case.
Khan, detained since August last year, faces over 200 cases, with 16 related to the May 9 violence. He appeared via WhatsApp video before Lahore's anti-terrorism court, asserting his innocence and calling for a judicial inquiry.
The government plans to ban Khan's party, citing illegal foreign funding and anti-state activities. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar highlighted the party's actions to undermine national sovereignty.
