Senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh announced on Thursday that two BJP MPs are looking to join Trinamool Congress during the Martyrs' Day function on July 21.
Ghosh stated that TMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee and National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee will make the final decision after evaluating the situation.
'Two recently elected BJP MPs among their 12 MPs have approached us, expressing a desire to work under Mamata Banerjee,' Ghosh said, adding that their identities cannot be revealed yet.
Due to their recent election, TMC leadership has advised these MPs to wait to avoid anti-defection law issues. Ghosh mentioned that the final call will be made by Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.
BJP state president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar responded by downplaying Ghosh’s remarks, calling them publicity-driven.
