The Congress core committee meeting is currently ongoing at Mumbai's Garware Club, with key figures such as Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole in attendance. Other notable leaders present include Balasaheb Thorat, Vijay Wadettiwar, and Prithviraj Chavan.

This pivotal meeting aims to devise a detailed strategy for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The Congress, fresh off a strong showing in the recent parliamentary elections where it secured 13 Lok Sabha seats, plans to discuss its role within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance and focus on winnable regions.

Discussions are not limited to electoral strategy, as the impact of splits within the NCP and Shiv Sena on seat allocation and alliance dynamics will also be addressed. The first round of discussions is held at Wankhede Stadium, with subsequent sessions at Tilak Bhawan. Notably, the INDIA bloc outperformed the NDA in regions like Western Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada during the recent elections.
