Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has condemned the Uttar Pradesh government's latest order requiring all eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners' names, labeling it a 'divisive agenda.' The move has ignited a heated political debate, with various opposition leaders denouncing it as discriminatory.

This development comes in the wake of a similar directive issued by the Muzaffarnagar Police, which has now been extended statewide. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has confirmed that similar instructions are already enforced in his state.

In a post on X, Sibal questioned whether such actions contribute to a 'Viksit Bharat,' implying that divisive policies could tear the country apart. Opponents, including Congress, have gone so far as to describe the order as 'mischief' and 'bigotry.'
