Union Budget Presentation to Highlight Monsoon Session

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget as the Monsoon Session of Parliament kicks off next week. The session, which starts on Monday, includes 19 sittings until August 12, where the government aims to introduce six key bills.

Among the bills are amendments to disaster management laws and the replacement of the 90-year-old Aircraft Act to streamline business in the civil aviation sector. Additionally, an Economic Survey will be tabled by Sitharaman during the session.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has called a meeting with floor leaders to discuss pressing issues. Opposition parties, including the BJD and Congress, plan to address issues like special status for Odisha and the government's stake in public sector banks.
