Former US President Donald Trump, in his first campaign rally since surviving an assassination attempt, dismissed concerns raised by critics about him being a threat to democracy. Addressing a large crowd in Michigan, Trump stated, “I took a bullet for democracy.”

At the rally, held at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena, Trump—joined by running mate J.D. Vance—was supported by over 12,000 attendees. He criticized opponents who label him a threat to democracy, referencing his recent brush with death at a Pennsylvania rally.

Trump also spoke about Project 2025, distancing himself from it and calling claims against it “misinformation and disinformation.” He thanked the medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital and expressed appreciation for the support he received nationwide. Additionally, Trump accused the Democratic Party of trying to remove President Joe Biden from the ballot, positioning the Republican Party as the “party of hardworking Americans.”
