Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange's hunger strike reached its second day on Sunday in Antarwali Sarati, located in Maharashtra's Jalna district.

Jarange is advocating for the immediate implementation of the state government’s 'sage soyare' notification, which will grant the Maratha community access to OBC quota benefits through the issuance of Kunbi certificates.

Addressing the press, Jarange criticized BJP MLC Pravin Darekar over his recent comments, alleging that Darekar has been contracted to dismantle the Maratha movement.

'If they imprison me, ensure that all BJP candidates are defeated in the assembly polls,' Jarange told reporters. 'Darekar is acting under the influence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Individuals like Darekar will cause substantial losses for the BJP,' he added.

Jarange warned that if the Maharashtra government fails to pass a law recognizing Marathas as Kunbis before the assembly polls, he will mobilize a campaign against the BJP to ensure their electoral defeat.

In response, Darekar recently stated that Jarange's protest is politically motivated and serves personal ambitions rather than the community's welfare.
