On Sunday, the BJP criticized Congress leader Jairam Ramesh for apparently 'live-tweeting' during an all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Ramesh's social media activity divulged demands raised by JD(U) and YSRCP while noting TDP's silence.
During the meeting, Ramesh tweeted, 'In today's all-party meeting of floor leaders, the JD(U) leader demanded special category status for Bihar, and the YSRCP leader demanded the same for Andhra Pradesh. Strangely, the TDP leader kept quiet on the matter.' BJP's IT department head Amit Malviya emphasized the importance of propriety and protocol in such meetings.
Malviya stated that there should be a free and frank exchange of ideas followed by a media briefing, but Ramesh's live-tweeting disrupted this process. He suggested the Congress should consider sending a more seasoned representative next time. Ramesh's tweet also had a political undertone, affecting the central government's stance on the demands for special category status.
