Amit Shah Debunks False Claims on Milk Powder Import

Union minister Amit Shah clarified that the Centre has no plans to import milk powder, countering accusations from Maha Vikas Aghadi. Speaking at BJP’s Maharashtra convention, Shah noted that misinformation based on an old notification was spread by the opposition for political gains.

Union minister Amit Shah on Sunday denied any plans by the Centre to import milk powder, countering opposition claims by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) as misinformation. Speaking at the BJP's Maharashtra convention in Pune, he stated that an old, undated notification was wrongly used by the MVA to create a false narrative.

Shah revealed that he had verified the information with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, who confirmed that the decision cited was not current but dated back to when Sharad Pawar was in office. 'Don't be confused,' Shah emphasized, attributing the circular to past governance.

Reiterating the government's position, he stated, 'In the last ten years, not even one kg of milk powder was imported. In the next five years, not even one gram of milk powder will be imported.' Shah also criticized NCP (SP) chief, labeling him as the 'leader of corruption' in India.
