In a significant development amidst the ongoing Gaza conflict, 14 Palestinian factions, including Fatah and Hamas, have signed a declaration to end their longstanding divisions. This unprecedented pact was signed on Tuesday in Beijing, with China playing a key role in brokering the talks.
China’s Foreign Ministry orchestrated the dialogue among the factions for three days, culminating in a declaration that aims to achieve a “comprehensive, durable and sustainable ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip, which has faced relentless Israeli attacks.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi hailed the agreement as a “historic moment,” announcing plans for an interim national reconciliation government to manage post-war Gaza. Senior officials from Hamas and Fatah, along with emissaries from 12 other groups, participated in these talks, marking the first time all 14 rival factions gathered in Beijing for reconciliation discussions.
