Bhutanese Prime Minister's Vision for Strengthening Indo-Bhutan Relations

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, alongside King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, completed a three-day visit to Gujarat. The visit included tours of prominent infrastructure projects like GIFT City and the world's largest renewable energy park in Khavda. Tobgay emphasized the opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties through these initiatives.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, along with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, concluded their three-day visit to Gujarat on Wednesday, aiming to enhance the friendship between Bhutan and Bharat.

During the final leg of their trip, the Bhutanese delegation visited GIFT City, an emerging global financial and IT services hub near Gandhinagar. 'We are inspired by what has been achieved in such a short time in this Smart City. Our visit will further strengthen the strong ties of friendship between Bhutan and Bharat,' Tobgay told reporters.

The state government stated that the visiting delegation was impressed with the world-class infrastructure and high-tech systems, such as the district cooling system and utility tunnel, showcased at GIFT City.

The delegation also toured the Statue of Unity, expressing admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India. Additionally, site visits included Adani Group's infrastructure projects at Mundra port and Khavda renewable energy park, where Tobgay saw numerous opportunities for further cooperation and partnership.

As part of their visit, Bhutan seeks to develop 'Mindfulness City' in Gelephu town, near the Indian border, and is keen on strengthening these bilateral initiatives.
