TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee Blasts Modi's 'Creaky' Coalition in Budget Debate

Abhishek Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's coalition government during the 2024-25 Budget discussion, calling it 'creaky' and 'vulnerable.' He claimed the budget neglects ordinary citizens and caters to coalition partners. BJP members countered, saying Banerjee's accusations better fit the West Bengal government.

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading a “creaky, shaky, and vulnerable” coalition government. He argued that the recently presented budget for 2024-25 favors only two states, ignoring the rest of the country's citizens.

While participating in the budget discussion, Banerjee labeled the budget by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as “anti-people,” designed to appease and compensate the ruling NDA’s coalition partners. He stated that the budget lacks vision and neglects the country's 140 crore populace.

Banerjee's speech, marred by disruptions from BJP members, highlighted issues like unemployment, rising essential commodity prices, and alleged government betrayals. He claimed that BJP's promises like job creation have fallen short and accused the government of ignoring tragedies like the ethnic violence in Manipur.
