The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala, announced on Thursday that it would stage protests from July 27 to August 1 in response to the Union Budget 2024-25. The organization labeled the budget 'anti-youth' and claimed it overlooked Kerala's crucial requirements.

DYFI State Secretary V K Sanoj criticized Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget proposals, arguing they promise only internships and stipends instead of permanent jobs, which are essential to combat rising unemployment. He announced that on August 1, DYFI would hold a significant protest outside Raj Bhavan, following public discussions and torch-lit demonstrations across Kerala.

Sanoj also criticized Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi, claiming he is unaware of Kerala's progress regarding land acquisition for an AIIMS facility. The DYFI leader underscored that the budget serves those supporting the central government while ignoring youth employment needs, making it a politically motivated exercise rather than an inclusive financial plan.
